All Are Welcome
Christ Church is a church community which seeks to welcome and embrace all people.We are involved in many forms of outreach to the city in which we live and which we love.
- We support and welcome the LGBTQ+ community, and have been active participants in AIDS Walks, AIDS Vigils, PRIDE in the Park, and strong supporters of the ANKORS society;
- We are committed to finding ways to work with our Ktunaxa brothers and sisters, healing the relationship between us and acting on the Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission;
- We work with Street Angels, having partnered with them in our Advent Alternative Giving projects for several years;
- We seek to work cooperatively with other churches in Cranbrook and the District in our local Ministerial;
- We, along with the Anglican Church of Canada, partner with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada (ELCiC), and in 2017 will plant a tree in Balment Park to mark the 500th anniversary of the Reformation;
- We have a small food pantry at Christ Church through which we give a bag or two of food to people who need it in an emergency;
- Our building is used by several community organizations;
- We joined with many other volunteers in Cranbrook on the Coldest Night of the Year, helping to raise funds to help hungry, homeless and hurting people;
- We invite other churches to join us in our Good Friday CrossWalk, in which we walk through the city and pray for its welfare every year; the CrossWalk has been a part of our church and city’s life since 2005;
A short video from Denmark shows something of the kind of approach we try to cultivate at Christ Church. It is so easy to divide people into “them” and “us”, but we recognize that there is more that brings us together than there is that divides us. I encourage you to watch it … it will be one of the best ways to spend three minutes
